Marlene Schoenberg, EdM, ccc/sp, is the president of Accent Wisdom. In addition to corporate consulting and speech coaching in the Twin Cities and around the U.S., Marlene has provided accent coaching to Africans, Asians, and Latinas in the healthcare field. She has worked with physicians, nurses, nursing assistants, and medication aides. Through grants from the State of Minnesota, she coached Asian physicians, who were restarting their careers as nursing assistants, and African staff at Dakota communities. Marlene provided English pronunciation training to staff at the Masonic Home and Maplewood Care Center.

As a speech pathologist working with residents with aphasia, dysarthria, and apraxia at Presbyterian Homes, Lyngbloomsten Care Center, and Sholom Homes, she worked on multicultural care teams with African nursing assistants. She has provided workshops on “Understanding Accented Speakers” to healthcare documentation specialists around the country.

Marlene holds a national ASHA certification, a master’s degree in speech from Boston University, and an Adult ESL Certificate from Hamline University. She is a member of the National Speakers’ Association and is the author of two books: Pronunciation for Career Growth and Speech Insights for Success. Marlene can be reached at ethcom@winternet.com.
