Track: Leadership Development

Description
We are living in divided times. Whether it is our political affiliations, news sources, or sports teams, we tend to entrench ourselves on one side. This can be true in numerous aspects of life. We select sides in a neighbor’s divorce, wrestle endlessly to find one “perfect” option, and convince ourselves that there is one right path to professional success. We call this an “OR” mindset. And it can be beneficial at times. But not always. How often is there only one answer? One best choice? Is any one side exclusively, and entirely, right?
In this interactive workshop, David will share his unique journey from the confines of “OR” to the possibilities of “AND.” Through exercises, reflection, and conversation, attendees will explore the emotional, intellectual, and practical factors that enable us to shift to “AND” and appreciate how this shift can help transform relationships, expand possibilities, and find innovative ways to meet many of today’s challenges.
Learning Outcomes:
- Explore the individual and cultural tendencies to default to an “OR” mindset.
- Identify the attributes and barriers of “OR” and “AND.”
- Understand the benefits of shifting to, and the factors that enable, an “AND” mindset.
