Day 1

Session Code: SEM-F
When: April 16, 2019
Location/Room: M 101 AB
Level: Advanced
Track: Innovation & Transformation
Presenter: Dr. Anne Phibbs, Strategic Diversity Initiatives
Prerequisite: Must be responsible formally or informally for D&I efforts within your organization or community (D&I officers, directors, managers, etc.). Must have familiarity with D&I frames and analyses.

This seminar will introduce an innovative and transformative model for improving the way leaders sustain equity and inclusion efforts across their organizations and/or communities. Attendees will have the opportunity to actively engage with the material through self-reflection, captioned videos, small group work, and action-planning.

We will walk through an organizational assessment, giving attendees the chance to reflect on their current efforts. We will facilitate a conversation around current events and key scenarios that equity and inclusion leaders often face, and provide context and strategies on how to develop as a D&I leader using this new model.

Learning Outcomes
  1. Describe how emotional intelligence affects sustainable D&I efforts and leverage this powerful framework.
  2. Return to organizations and communities with a new model for improving the sustainability of current D&I initiatives.
  3. Identify an action plan and a colleague to help with accountability.
