When: March 11, 2020
Location/Room: M100GF
Level: Introductory
Track: Higher Education
Presenter: Farzana Nayani, Farzana Nayani | Consulting & Training

Higher education leaders are challenged with how to create and implement an effective diversity, equity and inclusion statement, policy and plan at their organization. Where does one begin? How to ensure it is in alignment with your institution’s overall objectives? How to make sure the components you are including are not only relevant—but are also actionable?

Learn about the essential components of creating a DEI strategy for your institution, as well as how to determine key focus areas to include, and how to create “traction for action” in higher education. This session will expose attendees to a straightforward process that enables the involvement of key stakeholders, focused decision-making and campus community impact. Participants will learn best practices from the field, review sample templates and receive a list of resources that can be utilized at your organization for immediate next steps in your own institution’s DEI strategy.

Learning Outcomes
  • Understand vital steps to create a statement, policy and plan, including engaging key stakeholders
  • Learn best practices from a variety of sectors (corporate, startups, higher ed., nonprofit) to apply to your campus context
  • Acquire key takeaways for next steps to make an impact in higher education
