Description
Power. Privilege. Identity. ISMs. Equity. Inclusion. Systems.
These, among other concepts, can be difficult to unpack in many “traditional” corporate environments. As we’ve learned, “meeting people (and organizations) where they are” is a critical aspect of DEI work. However, some have suggested that this principle, in and of itself, can be at odds with strides toward social justice and equity, in that it centers whiteness and those in power, and can perpetuate the status quo.
Sure, corporate D&I work is implemented differently than social justice efforts, but both are critical to move communities, organizations and the world closer to equity. In this session, participants will explore concepts like equity, power and identity in the context of corporate and organizational DEI work. Facilitators will present tools to support leaders in understanding how to map the intersection between D&I and SJ in service of making equity real within their organizations.
