Description

World events and ongoing racial tensions have compounded to impact workplace culture and environment, in particular with our Black and Asian employees and leaders due to the ongoing presence of anti-Blackness and the uptick in anti-Asian racism during the onset of COVID-19. How do we support our Black and Asian workforce during these challenging times?

Beginning with a historical analysis connected to current issues, presenters will dive into the topic and will demonstrate ways that Asian and Black colleagues have come together in solidarity with a stance against inequity, combating bias, and directly addressing racism. We will share case studies and best practices from companies that have taken approaches through HR, DEI strategy, employee resource groups, communications, and more.

Participants will leave with examples and suggestions for action within their own organizations to honor the struggle of these groups and offer support as both allies and members of these communities.

Learning Outcomes

• Understand historical and current issues facing Black and Asian communities, separately and together
• Examine methods of creating allyship and solidarity among different community groups at work
• Foster intentional efforts and action toward supporting underrepresented communities through HR and DEI
