Cultural Differences Impacting Today’s Global Organizations

Spotlight Series

Day 1

Session Code: SL-3
When: April 5, 2022
Level: Intermediate
Track: Diversity Leadership
Presenter: Dr. Luiza Dreasher, Mastering Cultural Differences

Description

With the trend toward a more diverse workforce continuing, so are the diverse ways we conduct business. In the past, most businesses functioned within U.S. borders. Now, globalization is proving to be a huge game-changer for companies big and small.

The technical capabilities we have today make it a lot easier for us to communicate and collaborate across geographical boundaries. Because of these inescapable changes, you are likely working with culturally diverse colleagues or clients. It is imperative that you understand cultural differences so you can work well across those differences.

In this session, participants will understand the impact of culture on behavior, identify the challenges of working with culturally diverse colleagues and clients, learn a few cultural differences impacting today’s global organizations, and apply your learning through cross-cultural incidents.

Learning Outcomes

• Gain a deeper understanding of the meaning of culture and how it impacts behavior
• Identify the challenges of working with culturally diverse colleagues and clients
• Discover a few cultural differences impacting today’s global organizations
