Description

In this interactive session, participants will learn the journey that HealthPartners and Mayo Clinic have taken to address racist behaviors that patients and visitors display when seeking healthcare.

Topics of discussion will include policy implementation, incident reporting and communication strategies. Case scenarios with real patient/visitor examples will be utilized.

Learning Outcomes

• Identify steps to create a policy to manage patient and visitor racist behaviors
• Share strategies to help employees identify and intervene when racist behaviors occur
• Strengthen support for employees who have experienced racism from patients and visitors
