Social Change: Anticipating and Leading Through Social Unrest

20-minute Trend Talk

Day 3

Session Code: TT6-A
When: April 7, 2022
Level: Introductory
Track: Diversity Leadership
Presenters: James Morris, WMFDP | FDP Global  |  Mark Williams, WMFDP | FDP Global

Description

Social change and unrest are a given, particularly as inequities continue to widen. For those of us on the front lines of diversity, equity, and inclusion, it feels evident that the result of systemic racism and sexism, especially as it compounds over the generations, is protest and unrest—as a new generation becomes exasperated and cries out for change, accelerated and rendered even more pressing by climate change.

For today’s world, being able to anticipate and lead through social change is vital for organizations and leaders to connect meaningfully and create resonant communities where people feel seen and heard and have a deep sense of belonging.

In this session, learn to be able to see and predict social change and how addressing equity and inclusion go hand-in-hand with equalizing the waves of social unrest.

Learning Outcomes

• Learn to anticipate what’s to come: companies can anticipate what unrest will show up in their workplace
• Understand the new forefront of D&I to become more effective in organizational and individual change
• Become more conscious of societal tensions
