90-minute Workshops
Day 2
Session Code: S4-CWhen: March 28, 2023
Level: Intermediate
Track: DEI Strategy
Presenter: Kjirsten Mickesh, Finley Engineering
Prerequisite: Experience with recruitment either in a talent acquisition or recruiter role, in an HR BP role, and/or as a hiring manager
Description
A business-aligned recruitment strategy, an understanding of current talent gaps and opportunities, clearly defined roles and partnerships, self-awareness, and strong practices at each stage of the recruitment process are essential for creating an inclusive and equitable recruitment process and a more diverse workforce.
Recruitment is a strategic team sport, not a set of tasks to be completed. While all parties involved have individual responsibilities, the collective energy, input, and actions of the team can create differential experiences and outcomes. This is true especially when coupled with broader efforts to address systemic issues and when aligned with business imperatives.
In this workshop, you will learn to craft a DEI recruitment value proposition that aligns with and supports your organization’s business strategy. You will learn about the key roles in the recruitment process and explore how the biases of the recruitment team members will affect the process and outcomes, including exploring how your own biases show up and impact results. You will have the opportunity to discuss and practice DEI recruitment best practices at each stage of the recruitment process and will leave equipped to put these practices into motion immediately in your organization.
Learning Outcomes:
• Learn to craft a DEI recruitment value proposition that aligns with and supports your organization’s business strategy
• Understand the key roles in the recruitment process and explore how the biases of the recruitment team members will affect the process and outcomes
