Description
In a time when our world feels ever more polarized and divided across differences, it is increasingly important to create spaces and communities of belonging where every person can feel seen, valued, and appreciated. Belonging is at the intersection of diversity, equity, and inclusion and leads to increased connection, productivity, engagement, and equity. So, what does it mean to create a workplace culture of belonging through meaningful, strategic DEI work?
This workshop will examine how identity, difference, and bias function in our workplace cultures to create or deny access and opportunities for some. We will introduce a framework for creating the conditions for belonging that focuses on identity safety, equity, responsiveness, respect, relationships, and resilience. Participants will discuss and explore ways to operationalize belonging in their organizations.
Learning Outcomes:
- Explore a framework for creating the conditions for belonging
- Unpack DEI best practices for creating a culture of belonging
- Determine action steps to begin to operationalize belonging in your own workplace
