Spotlight Series

Day 2

Session Code: SL-1
When: March 28, 2023
Level: Intermediate
Track: Diversity Leadership
Presenter: Farah Bala, FARSIGHT
Prerequisite: This workshop is for active leaders and professionals who are driving change within their organization; Foundation anti-oppression and anti-racism trainings are a plus

Description

This session covers the key concepts of decision-making that can make an organization oppressive or inclusive. All leaders use power in different ways as they become gatekeepers of their teams, divisions, or organizations.

Participants will take away an understanding of how conscious use of power and gatekeeping can be used as a force for good — deepening belonging and psychological safety for all.

Learning Outcomes:

• Gain a clear understanding of the different faces and expressions of power — and gatekeeping
• Reflect and discuss where in your own life and work you hold, hoard, or share power
• Interactively brainstorm strategies to use your power and gatekeeping as tools to deepen your own EDIA strategies
