Track: Diversity Leadership
Industry Designation: Global Diversity

Description
In a time when the business case for diversity is stronger than ever and the costs for missing the mark in this domain have become steeper, real and deep progress is still rare in many organizations. Progress in representation still needs work across industries. When it comes to making changes to processes, policies, and systems, the pushback is even harder. Bold, business-driven actions combined with continued hard work are needed to sustain inclusive and equitable workplaces. As business leaders and HR/diversity practitioners, we too have encountered the challenges of implementing these changes from inside and outside of our organizations and want to share our learnings with you.
In this interactive session, we will explore how leadership competency expectations can help to achieve inclusive cultures, examine why so many companies fail to achieve sustainable change, and identify how to avoid the pitfalls that occur when HR programs are not aligned and integrated. We will focus on how we might create the best conditions to carry these behaviors throughout the organization and create lasting change.
Learning Outcomes:
• Understand the role that leadership expectations play in creating an inclusive culture
• Identify competency language that inhibits inclusion; gauge practices that influence organizational culture (i.e., selection, evaluation, potential)
• Formulate next steps for redesigning those practices around an inclusive leadership model
