Originally from Memphis, Tenn., Ashley Diaz Mejias began regularly challenging systemic bias while working as the educational director for a small nonprofit after graduating from college. Since then, she has devoted both her academic and community work to better understanding and challenging racial bias. Presently a consultant with TMI Consulting, Ashley has written for blogs and led curricula for institutional and congregational conversations on race, systemic bias, and mass incarceration and is a candidate for ordination in the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A.

Ashley is currently working with an amazing group of organizers to grow the Richmond Community Bail Fund and is also pastoring at the Lord Jesus Korean Presbyterian Church in Richmond, Va. She lives with her husband and three young daughters in the East End of Richmond. “Erasing Institutional Bias: How to Create Systemic Change for Inclusive Organizations” is her first book and was co-authored with Dr. Tiffany Jana.
