Athena Hollins is a 2005 graduate of Reed College in Portland, Ore. She obtained her law degree from the University of St. Thomas School of Law in 2011. After working as an associate attorney for several years at a small family law firm, Athena left practice to work for Thomson Reuters. In 2015, she became the Community Relations coordinator for Thomson Reuters, managing the Eagan campus pro-bono and diversity efforts.

In August 2017, Athena was named director of Diversity & Inclusion for the Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA) where she provides leadership, management and procedural guidance in the area of diversity and inclusion to the MSBA staff, officers, and board. She develops and collaborates on diversity-centered Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programming which can range from basic implicit bias training to advanced workshops of cultural competence.

Athena is active in various organizations, such as the Ramsey and Hennepin County Bar Association Diversity Committees. She currently sits on several boards including the Ramsey County Bar Association, Minnesota Association for Black Lawyers, and Payne-Phalen Community Council. In her free time, Athena likes to go to Zumba classes, quilt, and paint with her four-year-old daughter.
