How do we center racial equity: A case study in addressing institutional racism and racial inequity
(S7-F)
Since 2014, Barbra Banks has been a Diversity & Inclusion consultant at HealthPartners, partnering with leaders’ influence and support efforts that foster an environment where everyone is welcomed, included, and valued.
Barb’s 20 years of experience spans a variety of sectors and industries, including Cargill, Best Buy, SuperValu, Habitat for Humanity International, and YWCA of Minneapolis.
She holds a master’s in human resource development, and is currently a doctoral candidate in organizational leadership, policy, and development at the University of Minnesota, where her research focus is looking at how healthcare organizations address institutional racism as a part of their health equity efforts.
When she’s not working to dismantle systemic racism, Barb spends time with her aging parents, plays soccer as much as possible before her body fails her, and happily lets her three rescue dogs run her life.
