Beverly Belton is currently a field director of Surveyor Management and Support Accreditation and Certification Operations in the Hospital, Nursing Care Center, and Assisted Living Community programs at The Joint Commission. In this role, she is responsible for leadership, management, support, and oversight of surveyors in the Hospital, Nursing Care Center, and Assisted Living Community programs. She is also an active member of the inaugural Joint Commission Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council.

Prior to joining The Joint Commission, Beverly held several management and leadership positions at the Yale New Haven Hospital and Yale New Haven Health System in New Haven, Conn. She also provided leadership for several clinical research projects focused on clinical quality, infection prevention, patient safety, and throughput. She has co-authored several articles on topics related to patient safety and infection prevention that have been published in peer-reviewed journals.

During the course of her career, she has worked in a variety of settings across the health care continuum including the United States Army Nurse Corp. She has held clinical, middle-management, and executive-level positions, and has a clinical background in critical care and adult medical-surgical nursing.

Beverly is a member of the American Nurses Association (ANA) and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She is currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Connecticut, New York, and Pennsylvania.

Beverly received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Master of Science in nursing, management, policy, and leadership from Yale University.
