Dr. Karishma Rajani is a research associate in the Department of Neurologic Surgery and an assistant professor of neurosurgery at Mayo Clinic. She routinely collaborates with clinicians and researchers to develop clinically relevant therapies for brain tumors and neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease and multiple sclerosis. Her expertise includes tumor immunology, metabolomics, virology, biochemistry and molecular biology.
Apart from conducting day-to-day research in the laboratory, Karishma is heavily engaged in grant and manuscript writing. She also mentors, trains and supervises trainees in her lab offering them advice, training and peer support through their academic period. She co-leads the STEM committee for the Greater Leadership Opportunities for Women Mayo Employee Resource Group.
She received her PhD from Wake Forest University in biochemistry and molecular biology. In her spare time, Karishma enjoys swimming, yoga, traveling and learning about new cultures.
