The Uphill DEI Battle Fatigue: Taking Care when There Is Misalignment
Dr. Kate Curley is a Learning and Development consultant at HealthPartners focusing on diversity, equity and inclusion learning, analyses, and strategy. Before coming to HealthPartners, Kate was a professor in Multicultural Leadership in the leadership minor at Eastern Michigan University, and has more than 10 years of experience doing DEI work in applied contexts—with the majority in higher education.
Dr. Curley holds a BA in human development from Boston College, an MEd in college student affairs from The Pennsylvania State University, and a PhD in educational leadership from Eastern Michigan University. Their current research interests include the intersection of trans/non-binary identity and religious, secular, and spiritual identities and experiences in applied contexts.
Outside of their day job, Kate also volunteers in their neighborhood of South Minneapolis as a co-lead of a white accountability group and sits on the board of RECLAIM, a queer and trans mental health organization in St. Paul, Minn. When not working or volunteering, they can be found cuddling their cat, watching K-Dramas, or biking around town to meet with their biological or chosen family.
