Vice Provost for Diversity and Inclusion/Chief Diversity Officer

In his role as vice provost, Fenimore Fisher provides vision for diversity and inclusion initiatives to align them with university priorities, serves as the primary steward of the Roadmap on Diversity and Inclusion, sets up a framework for coordination and collaboration of school-level diversity and inclusion activities, and serves as ex-officio co-chair of the Diversity Leadership Council.

In his previous role with the City of New York, Fenimore led the design and implementation of strategies to position the City as a global leader in innovative and inclusive workplace practices. He provided guidance and measurement to more than 80 mayoral and non-mayoral agencies with a focus on aligning agency operations with the City’s key diversity and inclusion performance indicators to enhance the work experience of more than 300,000 employees. Additionally, he serves as an adjunct faculty member at the New York University School of Professional Studies where he teaches advanced labor relations and employment law.

Prior to his work with the City of New York, Fenimore served as Vice President of Diversity Initiatives and Employment Analysis for Walmart Stores, Inc. He was responsible for the company’s diversity goals program for over 50,000 members of management and employment analysis/diversity metrics for the company’s U.S. based workforce. Fenimore earned a B.S. degree in Economics from Louisiana State University, a JD from Ohio Northern University, and a labor mediation certification from the School of Labor and Industrial Relations at Cornell.
Fenimore is a member of the Multicultural Women’s Advisory Board, past member of the National Leadership Council for the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), as well as a past member of the Corporate Advisory council for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF). He is the recipient of numerous diversity and inclusion awards, including the Collaborative Leadership Interagency Award from the New York City Police Department and the Multicultural Leadership Award from the National Diversity Council.
