Webinar: Six Pillars: A Guide to Strategic DEI work in the University Setting

Dr. Heather Martinez has served in various leadership roles throughout her career, which has allowed her to grow as a professional and servant leader. She is passionate about higher education, promoting growth, and building cultures focused on inclusivity, accessibility, and equity. Dr. Martinez has a rich background in diversity and inclusion, having served in administrative DEI roles for several organizations, in service roles on the National Diversity Council Women’s Board of Directors, and as an editor for the Diversity Research Journal. She has also served in leadership roles on serval local, regional, and state boards. She has been recognized for her work through awards such as the National Diversity Council Diversity First Award and the Hispanic Association of Women Hispana of the Year Award.

In addition to her professional and volunteer positions, Dr. Martinez has taught university courses in women’s studies, diversity, intersectionality, and integrated studies. She has presented her research at various academic and professional seminars and has served numerous times as a keynote and motivational speaker for various organizations, institutions, and professional groups.

Dr. Martinez is a proud alumna of Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc., and she holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, a Master of Business Administration degree, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration degree. She resides in Lubbock, Texas, with her husband, her son, and their two rescue dogs, Ares and Marley.
