Janet Gracia (She/Her/Hers) is the chief of staff at the Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys. She leads the organization’s diversity, equity and inclusion work along with talent recruitment and staff development. After studying communications at the University of Iowa, she started her career in the political field as a legislative liaison and community organizer. With a passion for community and capacity building, Janet transitioned to a career in nonprofit management where she has gained more than 30 years of leadership experience at the American Red Cross, Amherst H. Wilder Foundation, and River Valleys.

As a champion of diversity, equity and inclusion at River Valleys, Janet has led the development and implementation of strategies resulting in increasing the cultural competency of Girl Scouts staff. She is a certified administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) and the Intercultural Conflict Styles Assessment (ICS). During the past three years, Janet has led the DEI work at River Valleys by using a developmental model approach to support the River Valleys staff and teams increasing their cultural competency.

Janet makes her home in St. Paul, Minn. When not at work, you may find her exploring locally owned restaurants and coffee shops looking for the perfect espresso. During the time of COVID, she and her family are exploring all the metro area parks.
