Lee S. Johnsen, CPT, CPLP, SPHR, is founder and principal of Partners in Development. He is an international leader in the fields of virtual team management, leadership development, and performance improvement. With a background in both business and counseling, Lee brings his unique expertise to coaching and consulting with executives and leaders. He is an expert at helping global teams and their leaders navigate the challenges and opportunities of working in a virtual world. He has spoken internationally on this and other topics that motivate and engage audiences to expand their thinking and leadership practices.

A results-oriented professional, focused on helping organizations achieve excellence, he is a known leader in performance, improvement, leadership development, and change management. Lee’s areas of expertise encompass executive coaching, strategic planning, leadership and management development training, employee engagement, and emotional intelligence. He has worked with clients from industries including oil and gas, financial services, retail, logistics, private education, health care, and nonprofits. In 2014, he spent five months working with leaders in Saudi Arabia in the oil industry.

Lee has held officer and management positions in Fortune 500 corporations as well as government agencies. His experience includes serving as a director of learning and development departments and as a manager of people for over 20 years. His career achievements include starting three successful Workplace Learning and Performance departments in different organizations.

He has presented at regional and international conferences (ASTD and ISPI) on topics including leadership of global virtual teams, e-learning, and training evaluation. Lee has served as an adjunct instructor at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and Northwestern University, Roosevelt University, and Lake Forest Graduate School of Management in Chicago. He has published several articles and co-authored the book, Real World Teambuilding Strategies That Work (Insight Publishing).

Lee earned an MA from Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo., and a BS degree from South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D. He has the distinction of being one of only a few who is certified by all three international human resources organizations—Association for Talent Development (ATD), International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI), and Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
