Leveraging Best Practices in Curriculum Design for Transformative DEIJ Learning
Leigh Morrison is a Learning and Innovation manager at The Winters Group. In this role, she is responsible for supporting the development of and research for The Winters Group’s educational experiences and resources. Leigh works closely with TWG instructional designers, clients, and facilitators to curate learning designs that resonate with learners in every industry—from education, arts, and not-for-profit, to faith organizations, manufacturing, and tech.
Leigh brings to this role a background in equity and justice, adult learning, and curriculum design, as well as a passion for storytelling as a powerful means to social change. She is enthusiastic about the potential for education in its many forms to advance equity and justice. Specific interests include increasing accessibility of education to those most impacted by systems of oppression; promoting culturally relevant learning as a tool for individual and community empowerment; and leveraging strong educational practices to design antiracism, equity- and justice-related education that is accessible, impactful, and enduring.
Prior to this role, she worked as an instructional designer with The Winters Group, a workshop facilitator at University of Michigan’s Program on Intergroup Relations, an academic support coordinator at Grand Rapids Community College, and a program evaluation intern at 826Michigan.
A graduate of Wellesley College, Leigh holds an undergraduate degree in gender studies, with a concentration of intersectionality of race, class, gender, and sexuality. She earned her Master of Arts in educational studies from the University of Michigan School of Education.
Leigh lives in Denver, Colo., with her partner and two cats. In her spare time, she enjoys prioritizing rest, writing, tending to her plants, practicing American Sign Language, and cultivating community.
