Transforming Access for Underrepresented Populations: Case Studies on Universal Design and Reconciliation
Lori Mickelson is the program manager in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at Mayo Clinic, Rochester. She graduated cum laude from Augsburg University with a bachelor’s degree in communications and public relations and is silver-certified in the Mayo Quality Fellows program.
Lori currently facilitates 16 employee resource groups to identify programming, align with Mayo Clinic strategic initiatives, and increase talent development. She has worked on RACE: Are We So Different, Why Treaties Matter, and Native Voices exhibits.
Lori has served as a facilitator for Ouch, that Stereotype Hurts, and communications chair for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. She has been a speaker for Join the Journey, Network and Affinity Leadership Congress, and 2017 Mayo Clinic Equity and Inclusion in Healthcare Symposium. She will share her experience and tools used in creating successful employee resource group strategy and tactics that impact staff, patients and the business.
