Malii [MAY-Lee] Watts Carolyn, founding principal of EngageBetween, is an impact entrepreneur who facilitates training and consults globally and stateside to equip people with skills to manage the complexities and opportunities inherent to work and life in culturally diverse environments. She has 16 years of experience training leadership, executives and high potentials—both face-to-face and virtually—to cooperate effectively in the U.S. and/or across national cultures. Her client list includes Fortune 500 companies, institutions of higher learning, state government and nonprofit organizations.
Malii offers a unique perspective to the work as a millennial woman of color who has worked and travelled throughout the U.S. and 20 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. She has varying proficiency in Spanish, Japanese and American Sign Language (ASL). Living at times beyond her “comfort zone”—both outside of, and within, her native U.S. borders—has presented Malii with professional and personal experiences that enable her to relate to, and resonate with, client-partners through cultural self-reflection and discovery.
Malii has managed intercultural training and consulting projects within the industries of human resources, information technology, engineering, automotive manufacturing, theology, agriculture, pharmaceuticals and higher education based in, or with a focus on Canada, China, England, Finland, Germany, India, Mexico, Poland, Russia and the United States. The culture-general theories of well-established researchers within the intercultural field serve as the foundation of her content knowledge.
Publications include “For the Love of Music: A Story of Organizational Culture and Change”; quarterly communications sent as editor of the intercultures e-newsletter; and monthly posts via #BlahBlahBlog. One of Malii’s strongest attributes is her ability to connect with others. She is an effective and dynamic communicator who works with a people-centered ethic.
