Company: Mercedes Martin & Company
Role: Session Presenter
Session: Building a Future World Where DEI Leads (S5-H)

With more than two decades of experience in strategic business consulting, inclusion coaching, global diversity, and leadership development, Mercedes Martin brings a radically different approach to her work. As a leadership expert and business consultant, she sheds new light on the topics of business transformation, disruption, and innovation for leadership in today’s business environment. She navigates uncharted waters by first examining the basic core human needs—to be seen, heard, and connected—and builds from this premise. Through her unique use of storytelling, she weaves the political, social, and economic impact of these topics to establish a cultural context for individuals, teams, and organizations.

Before launching her independent consultancy, Mercedes worked at Ernst & Young (EY) for almost 10 years as Talent Development and Organizational Change consultant and as an executive coach. After her tenure at EY, she was EVP Business Transformation and Innovation at Ashton212 consultant firm. Before that, she was co-founder and CEO of In Partnership Consulting, specializing in business strategy, leadership development, and global diversity. Early in her career, Mercedes served as a Staff Development Officer in the United States Air Force: her passion for coaching and her training stems from what she experienced and learned in this setting.

Mercedes is a native Spanish speaker. She holds a Bachelor of Science in transcultural nursing from the University of Miami and a Master of Science in leadership development from the University of San Francisco. She holds multiple certifications including: MEECO Master Executive Coach, 360 Assessment Coaching from the Center for Creative Leadership, and an Executive Coaching certification from Results Coaching Systems.

Mercedes is a pioneer in global leadership and diversity who has successfully developed high-performing teams with measurable impact. She has worked with Fortune 50 companies, including PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble, Shell Oil, and Kellogg’s. Among the countries in which she has worked are Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, El Salvador, England, Mexico, Nigeria and Spain, as well as the United States. In these engagements, she developed and designed learning labs that catapulted participants into taking purposeful action. Mercedes challenges the learning and development status quo to help organizations transform social pains into sustainable gain.
