Molly Banal

DOC Education Career Navigator

Company: Minnesota Department of Corrections
Role: Session Presenter

Molly Banal is a career navigator at the Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC) working with men and women in the career technical training programs, during and after incarceration to assist in preparation of long-term career pathways. This is a multi-agency initiative within the DOC Education Unit to create a smoother transition back into the communities and into employment. Through this role, Molly has worked with the Education team to help remove the stigma around hiring a person with a justice involvement by partnering with employers, union groups, community-based organizations, and other state agencies to provide additional education and support.

Molly has previous experience as a victim advocate at the Minnesota Department of Corrections, as well as experience working for a nonprofit re-entry program. Molly is passionate about restorative practices and ensuring those who are leaving incarceration are as supported as possible in their transition back to the community.
