Naimah Bhuruku

Naimah Bhuruku is a Diversity & Inclusion specialist for NASA, bringing career experience in building organizational relationships, partnerships and support within nonprofit organizations, academic institutions, and state/federal government agencies. Naimah is the program manager for the New and Developing Professionals Advisory Committee.

She earned her Master of Science in human resource management with an emphasis in organizational development from University of Maryland University College. Her Bachelor of Arts is in African American studies (public policy concentration) with a minor in government and politics, international development conflict management at the University of Maryland College Park. Naimah is a trained Diversity Dialogue facilitator.

Prior to working for the Diversity & Inclusion Program office, Naimah had a 15-year career in procurement which began with three years of support at the Marine Corps Systems Command in Quantico, Va., and the remaining 12 years with NASA GSFC. She held the role of contracting officer in the Office of Procurement supporting the Applied Engineering Technology Directorate and Space Sciences Division.

Naimah has always had a passion for supporting underserved communities and populations. Developing and sharing opportunities that leverage resources to equip individuals and teams to thrive is a passion of hers. She is a creative problem solver who enjoys developing focused initiatives and tactical grassroots solutions that align strategy with business and organizational needs.

Naimah hails from the Garden State of New Jersey where most of her family still reside. She moved to Maryland to pursue her undergraduate degree in 2001 and never left. She is an avid reader with a love for all things creative. She loves spontaneity, adventure, exploring new places and experiencing new cultures.
