Ripa Rashid

Managing Director

Company: Culture@Work, Diversity Best Practices
Role: DEF Session

Ripa Rashid is an internationally recognized thought leader on race and identity, gender relations, and global leadership as it pertains to inclusive workplace cultures.

Most recently, Ripa was co-president at the Center for Talent Innovation (CTI) in New York City, a premier think tank and content provider that studies global workplace inclusion and diversity. She previously served as a management consultant with Booz & Company, PwC, and Mitchell Madison Group, and she held senior positions at MetLife and Time Warner.

Having lived and worked in North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America, with fluency in four languages, Ripa brings a fresh perspective on the foremost challenges of our time.

“I am fascinated by how we construct identity around categories of difference,” says Ripa. “For instance, we know that race is biologically almost meaningless as a tiny layer of our skin as a color and tiny portion of our DNA, but socially speaking, the constructs around it in every society globally are so varied in terms of status, access, opportunity, and stereotyping. I am focused on strategies that eliminate biases experienced by anyone perceived to be an outsider, so human potential flourishes.”

Ripa is the coauthor of three books: Disrupt Bias, Drive Value (Center for Talent Innovation, 2017), Growing Global Executives: The New Competencies (Center for Talent Innovation, 2015), and Winning the War for Talent in Emerging Markets: Why Women Are the Solution (Harvard Business Review Press, 2011); and numerous articles, reports and whitepapers including “Diversity Does Stick Without Inclusion” (HBR 2017) and “What #Metoo Means for Corporate America” (CTI 2018).

She has appeared on BBC’s “Global with Matthew Amroliwala,” CNN’s “Smerconish,” China Radio International, Cheddar TV, Fox News, and Bloomberg, and has been featured in Newsweek, The Economist, The Times of India, Hindustan Times, HR Matters and South China Morning Post, among others.

A sought after speaker and panelist, Rashid has been featured by the OECD, United Nations, World Bank, Asia Society, Bank Negara Malaysia, International Women’s Foundation, Aetna, Goldman Sachs, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Standard Chartered, among other businesses and organizations. She earned an AB cum laude in astronomy and astrophysics from Harvard University, an MA in anthropology from New York University and an MBA from INSEAD.
