Shavondalyn Givens

Shavondalyn Givens is a senior Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) program analyst at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. She started her NASA career as a Presidential Management Fellow at NASA HQ in 2003 after graduating from the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, Texas.

As part of her current role, Shavondalyn serves as the program lead for the Center’s D&I committee, D&I liaison to nine advisory committees that are sponsored under the Center’s D&I/EO program and responsible for management and oversight of these employee resource groups. In addition, she serves as the program manager for the Diversity Dialogue Program (DDP), the 20-year-old diversity training program that has been recognized as a best practice initiative across the federal government. She has also launched innovative programs such as the Inclusion Ally Initiative that spotlights key inclusion behaviors in the workplace. Shavondalyn has held positions in both the public, private and nonprofit sectors including EEOC Appellate Division, ACLU of Texas, Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and Texas Civil Rights Project among others.

Shavondalyn is passionate about diversity and inclusion and leveraging the power of D&I to create high-performing teams and optimize performance within organizations. Her work focuses on planning and developing innovative, creative, and inclusive work cultures, reshaping organizational thinking, and facilitating communications to optimize team performance.

Shavondalyn received her BA with honors from Stanford University in 1998. She participated in the Semester at Sea Study Abroad Global Learning Program – Fall 1996 Sailing and taught English in Japan for one year through the JET Program. She lives in the Washington, D.C., area and with her family and enjoys participating in numerous community service activities.
