Dr. Tara Doaty obtained her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Howard University. She has obtained several certifications in evidenced-based practices aimed at strengthening parent and child attachment and working with survivors of trauma. Due to her 20 years of experience working with parents and families, Dr. Tara has developed several curricula covering the areas of parenting from a trauma-informed perspective, mindfulness, and recovery from various forms of addiction. She has also developed curricula on equity, trauma-informed care, and one for agency supervisors aimed at increasing productivity, skill, supporting staff and clients, and increasing agency motivation. Dr. Tara is the recipient of many awards and honors including being selected to participate in the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program and as a 2018 Honoree of the Daily Record’s Maryland Leading Women Award, where she was selected within a group of 50 out of over 200 nominations. In February 2020, Dr. Tara was selected as 1 of 12 women to participate in the Daily Record’s Women Who Lead inaugural program.

In 2018, she founded ‘It’s Dr. Tara’ to expand the reach of Sage Wellness Group’s trainings to a larger and broader audience within the community. Understanding that “we are people before we are professionals”, the It’s Dr. Tara community provides a safe platform for courageous and necessary conversations on topics including parenting, self-care, relationships, and understanding the impacts of trauma. Aside from her weekly Facebook Live workshops, ‘Dr. Tara Tuesdays’, Dr. Tara also hosts conferences, workshops, and retreats focused on healing family and intrapersonal relationships.

​Under her leadership, Sage Wellness Group’s program development department has assisted client agencies in being awarded over 7 million dollars from state, local, and private funds. The professional development services offered through Sage Wellness Group merge clinical expertise and practical experience. These workshops connect with audiences and leave them more knowledgeable and encouraged as they fulfill roles associated with being a parent, professional, agency administrator, or agency executive. Clinical services provided by Sage Wellness Group create safe spaces for adult and/or child participants to share their successes and their challenges in a mindful and trauma-free environment.

Dr. Tara is a national speaker and trainer where she is frequently asked to speak on issues impacting the well-being of children and families. She has been the Key Note speaker for Pediatric Grand Rounds, School Districts, and non-profit organizations and has given specialized trauma trainings for judges, magistrates, and attorneys in Baltimore City and Washington, D.C. judicial system. Dr. Tara served as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology at the Notre Dame University of Maryland and is a frequent guest on WEAA radio where she provides clinical insight surrounding current issues.

​In April 2014, Dr. Tara celebrated the release of her first children’s book, ‘Let’s Talk About It’, a collection of 5 short stories that highlight the journey to self-discovery that every child travels. ‘Let’s Talk About It’ was selected for inclusion in Baltimore’s Enoch Pratt Public Library, and one of its stories, ‘Mindful of Me’ was chosen to assist children impacted by the Baltimore Uprising of 2015. Dr. Tara resides in Maryland with her family.
