Teresita Guevara Smith is a Diversity Program Management specialist with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) and Communications manager for all D&I functions at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. Teresita started her NASA career 13 years ago as a Pathways student intern in the Office of Communication; since then she has taken on opportunities within the Office of Procurement, and the Equal Opportunity Program Office.

As part of her current role, she serves as the program manager for two employee resource groups, the New and Developing Professionals, and Veterans Advisory Committee. In addition, she serves as a resource person and adviser on unique issues and concerns of employees, and identifies barriers and effective remedies to equitable treatment that affect the development, advancement, retention and recruitment of members within the constituent group.

Teresita received her Business Administration degree from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and her Master of Business Administration from Bowie State University.

Outside of her D&I work at NASA Goddard, Teresita is an advocate for the sustainment and perpetuation of culture and language for the Pacific Micronesia island of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands. In 2016, Teresita founded and became the director of Håle’ Para Agupa’, meaning Roots of Tomorrow, a tuition-free Chamorro learning and education program. The next time you cross her path, she encourages you to greet her with a Chamorro, “Håfa Adai!”
