W. Teddy McDaniel, III, currently serves as the president and chief executive officer of the Urban League of Central Carolinas in Charlotte, N.C. Prior to arriving in Charlotte, McDaniel was president and CEO of the Austin, Texas, Urban League affiliate from 2012 to 2017 and served as chief operating officer of the Greater Phoenix Urban League starting in 2009.

Before entering the nonprofit sector, Teddy spent more than 15 years in the financial service industry. From 2004 to 2008, he was an assistant vice president at GE Capital in Scottsdale, Ariz., where he underwrote more than $100 million in real estate and commercial loans to small and medium sized franchise hospitality businesses. He started his career with Chase Manhattan Bank in New York and spent three years with Banco Popular de Puerto Rico, NA, as manager of a $50 million portfolio in mixed-use real estate properties and loans to McDonald’s franchisees.

In 1998, he joined Franchise Mortgage Acceptance Corp. in Greenwich, Conn., as a senior underwriter for franchise loans, where he was responsible for over $100 million in senior debt and equity transactions to national restaurant brands such as Taco Bell, KFC, Burger King, and Pizza Hut.

Born in Atlanta, Ga., and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Teddy is a third-generation graduate of Morehouse College. He holds a BA in finance from Morehouse and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
