Description

In this insightful session, members of Prudential’s Office of Corporate Social Responsibility will demonstrate the applications of the concept of shared value and its connection to the company’s purpose. Developed by Mark Kramer and Michael Porter, from FSG Advisors and Harvard Business School, shared value entails embedding a social mission in the corporate culture and leveraging resources to help social issues.

Through engaging discussion and mini case studies, the audience will learn about the various tools in Prudential’s CSR toolbox and how they are being deployed to connect people to opportunities and create new business opportunities for the company.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Participants will learn the concept of shared value and how it relates to a company’s purpose.
  • Participants will also learn about three different types of resources—cash giving, investments, and human capital—and how these can be deployed to address social issues while meeting business objectives.
  • Participants will learn about nonprofit organizations and how can they play a part in the concept of shared value.
