90-minute Workshops

Day 2

Session Code: S2-B
When: April 11, 2018
Location/Room: 200 F
Level: Intermediate
Track: Critical Employment Practices
Presenter: Nadine Vogel, Springboard Consulting

Description

Nine percent of the workforce is caring for a child with special needs. They are often referred to as the invisible nine percent because we do not see these children in our workplaces, yet they have a profound effect on the employee’s workday and beyond. From employee health benefits and work-life balance, to disclosure, discrimination, company events, and more, these folks experience unique challenges but bring incredible benefits. This session will focus on the who, what, how, and why of this unrecognized group of employees.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Attendees will come to learn about nine percent of their colleagues that they are typically unaware of relative to their unique issues and needs.
  • Attendees will gain an understanding of the issues and impact of employee health benefits, disclosure, company events, and more.
  • Attendees will learn about the often-unknown regulatory issues surrounding the support and treatment of these employees.
