R. Fenimore Fisher, Deputy Commissioner, Chief Diversity & EEO Officer for the City of New York, is positioning the City as a global leader in innovative, inclusive workplace practices. As a source of guidance and measurement, Fisher focuses on aligning operations with the City’s D&I key performance indicators, enhancing the work experiences and careers of over 300,000 employees. Fisher previously served as VP of Diversity Initiatives and Employment Analysis for Walmart, responsible for its diversity goals for over 50,000 members of management and employment analysis/diversity metrics for its U.S. based workforce of more than 1.3 million associates. An attorney by training, Fisher developed alternative dispute resolution and diversity best practices while serving as the Executive Director for the Rainbow/PUSH Wall-Street Project. He is a past member of the National Leadership Council for GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network) and served on the Corporate Advisory Council for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. A recipient of the Founders Award from the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund for dedicated community service and the Multicultural Leadership Award from the National Diversity Council, he holds a B.S. in Economics from Louisiana State University, a Juris Doctorate from Ohio Northern University and a labor mediation certification from the School of Labor and Industrial Relations at Cornell. He is an adjunct faculty member at New York University.
