Nicol Christie is a senior technical assistance provider at American Institutes for Research (AIR) and has led numerous equity-focused school improvement projects for more than 11 years at AIR. Now based in the Washington D.C. metro area, she has 30 years of experience serving public school students ages 0–24 as a teacher, education program and project director, and professional learning facilitator. Nicol has served as a DEI leader at AIR for more than seven years including co-founding the institution’s Collaborative Remote Employee Workforce (AIR CREW) employee resource group, sitting on the DEI Council, and serving as a DEI liaison to more than 100 staff.

Nicol specializes in designing and delivering engaging professional development. She has developed numerous best practice guides, facilitated student and adult focus groups, and led many Pre-K-to-12 educational programs for national, state, and local stakeholders. Her technical skills include developing multimedia products including web-based modules and websites, and creating instructional tools and resources for educators.

She has mastered virtual collaboration methods that improve client and partner communications and productivity, which she uses to unify internal and external teams, forming cohesive and collaborative partnerships. In addition to managing education initiatives, Nicol has rich content and craft knowledge in early learning, literacy, extended learning, and workforce development.

Ms. Christie began her career in the Philadelphia Public Schools system as a certified K–8 teacher. She has a master’s degree in curriculum, instruction and technology from Temple University and is a National Writing Project Fellow. She is a former staff writer for The Philadelphia Sunday Sun newspaper, and in her spare time loves playing tennis and gardening.
