Travis L. Jones is a principal strategist for The Winters Group, Inc. His responsibilities include course development, research, vision casting, training, and public speaking. His main areas of interest are cultural competency, cross-cultural communication, religious tolerance, race, gender, and diversity of thought in the workplace.
Prior to joining The Winters Group, Travis was a sociology instructor at a local community college outside of Charlotte, N.C. He currently works part time as an adjunct instructor as a way to continue his passion for education. His courses primarily focus on issues of race, ethnicity, religion and culture. With the rise of new technology and a changing academic landscape, Travis is committed to exploring and perfecting new ways to communicate to his students. He has recently published and presented at national conferences on his use of Twitter as a pedagogical resource.
Travis is also an avid traveler, having spent time in 28 countries on five continents. He is passionate about studying and practicing the various ways cross-cultural diversity can be celebrated for the greater good. He is a volunteer with the Latin American Coalition in Charlotte, N.C., and an active member with the American Sociological Association, Southern Sociological Society, and Eastern Sociological Society.
He holds a B.A. in philosophy and an M.A. in sociology from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a Master of Divinity. Travis is a certified administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI®).
