Location/Room: M 100 FGH
Level: Intermediate
Track: D&I Strategy
Presenter: Lynn M. Cowart, Career Systems International

Description

There is integration and overlap of inclusion and engagement. The same behaviors that one would exercise as an inclusive leader are very similar to the behaviors that one would demonstrate as an engagement-focused leader. These leaders know that if their organization is to be productive and competitive, they must not only “hang on” to their diverse population, but also continually engage, include, and develop them in order to meet constantly changing business needs. The big question for most leaders is how to do this in a “no-time-to-do-it” environment.

This session provides 26 strategies for engagement, and highlights nine strategies that would better achieve a leader’s inclusion goals in addition to their engagement efforts. It is based on 17 years of research that suggests that individuals cannot be engaged unless they are included.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Develop insight into the impact of talent loss on the bottom line.
  • Understand the relevance and significance of key engagement and retention factors, other than pay, that apply to diverse populations.
  • Learn several practical, low-to-no-cost and hands-on strategies that leaders at all levels can apply immediately.
